MW

Marcus Weiler

Managing Director — Munich, Germany

Setting up a representative office in Bangkok involved more regulatory steps than I had anticipated. Dharma Path walked me through each requirement clearly, explained why each step existed, and handled the DBD filings without needing me on-site. The timeline they gave me at the outset was accurate to within a few days.

Prapassorn Nakwong

E-commerce Entrepreneur — Bangkok, TH

I had been putting off trademark registration for two years because I found the process confusing. Dharma Path made it straightforward — the similarity search they conducted was thorough, and they explained clearly what risk areas existed before we filed. The application is now progressing without complications.

Sophie Calloway

Operations Director — Singapore

We needed a Thai distribution agreement reviewed before signing. The feedback from Dharma Path was specific and practical — they flagged two clauses that would have been problematic and suggested amendments that the other party accepted. The plain-language explanation they provided was particularly useful for our board.

Thana Kositpat

Co-Founder — Chiang Mai, TH

We used Dharma Path for our company formation and returned later for a shareholder agreement when our structure changed. Both times the advice was clear and proportionate to what we actually needed. I appreciated that they did not suggest complexity we did not require.

Brand Director — São Paulo, Brazil

Registering our brand in Thailand and two additional ASEAN markets was something we had been unsure how to approach. The team at Dharma Path was organised and methodical — the prior art search report was detailed and gave us real confidence before filing. Everything was handled with minimal burden on our side.

James Okonkwo

Consultant — Nairobi, Kenya

I was forming a Thai limited company as a foreign national and found the process unexpectedly complex. Dharma Path's team was patient with my questions and never made me feel that I was asking too much. Response times were good throughout, and the final documents were well-organised and easy to understand.

Three detailed accounts of how specific legal matters were handled from initial enquiry through to completion.

European Tech Company — Bangkok Market Entry

Business Formation & Structuring · 5 weeks · BOI-promoted entity

Challenge

A German software company wished to establish a wholly-owned Thai entity with BOI promotion to employ foreign staff and operate within specific industry categories. They had no prior experience with Thai regulatory procedures and needed guidance from first principles.

Approach

Dharma Path conducted an initial briefing covering entity options, BOI eligibility criteria, and the implications of each structure. Following entity selection, constitutional documents were prepared and the BOI application was managed in parallel with DBD registration to minimise overall timeline.

Result

Company registered and BOI promotion approved within five weeks. The client received a complete documentation package with English annotations and a written summary of ongoing compliance obligations. A follow-up employment contract was subsequently requested.

Thai Consumer Brand — ASEAN Trademark Protection

IP Registration · 4 months · Thailand + 2 ASEAN jurisdictions

Challenge

A Bangkok-based consumer goods brand was expanding into Vietnam and Malaysia and needed trademark protection secured before entering distribution agreements. The client had an existing Thai registration but was unsure how to proceed in the new jurisdictions.

Approach

A similarity search was conducted in each target jurisdiction before any application was filed. The search results were presented with a practical explanation of the identified risks. Applications were then filed with appropriate class selections, and prosecution correspondence was managed on the client's behalf.

Result

All three applications accepted for examination without office actions. The client entered distribution negotiations in both new markets with trademark applications on file — a material condition of their distribution agreements. Registration certificates are expected within the standard timeframe.

Joint Venture Between Thai and Australian Parties

Contract Drafting · 3 weeks · Joint venture agreement

Challenge

Two parties — one Thai, one Australian — were entering a joint venture for a hospitality project in Chiang Mai. Each party had different expectations about governance, profit distribution, and exit mechanisms. No formal agreement existed, and negotiations had reached an impasse on key commercial terms.

Approach

Dharma Path was engaged to prepare a joint venture agreement under Thai law. Separate consultations were held with each party to understand their priorities. A balanced draft was produced with clear provisions for governance, decision-making thresholds, distributions, and a structured exit mechanism acceptable to both sides.

Result

Agreement executed within three weeks of engagement. Both parties reported that the plain-language summary provided alongside the formal document was helpful during their respective internal review processes. The joint venture entity was subsequently registered by Dharma Path as a follow-on matter.
